Great success for the first property exhibition in Iceland

2 136 visitors came to Fair Media´s first property exhibition BUYING PROPERTIES ABROAD Saturday and Sunday 13-14th of April in Reykjavik, the capital of Iceland. That was two times more than Fair Media had expected. It was the first time ever that Reykjavik had a property exhibition of this size. The exhibitors were very pleased with the great number of visitors, and above all they were pleased with the good quality of the visitors and their authentic interest of buying something in a warmer climate.

Iceland is the fifth country within the Nordic countries where Fair Media is arranging the property exhibition BUYING PROPERTIES ABROAD. It started in 2003 with an exhibition at World Trade Center in Stockholm and continued with Oslo in Norway, Helsinki in Finland, Copenhaguen and Aarhus in Denmark and now the latest in Reykjavik in Iceland.

Fair Media International AB is the biggest and the most succesful organizer of property exhibitions in the Nordic countries with offices in Sweden and Spain.

Fair Media organizes 11 property exhibitions a year in the Nordic countries.

The winner of the design award at the Malmö fair, November 17-18 2007 was awarded to Ottoman 365.

Oslo Award

The Fair Media award for best design of exhibition stand, which was introduced at the Gothenburg fair, was this time, in Oslo November 10-11 2007, awarded to Kemer Mediterra.

Easier for Swedes to Buy Property Abroad

Capital gains tax on all kinds of properties sold in Sweden can now be postphoned when the seller buys another property within the EU, Norway, Iceland or Liechtenstein.

From January first this year, the Swedish law was changed to allow a postphonement of the paying the capital gains tax, but the regulations did not cover all kinds of ownership. This has now been rectified, and to the delight of many Swedes, the law is retroactive from 1 January, 2007.

The Swedish tax authority changed their interpretation of the law after some impressive lobbying from the EU-Commission. The commission's view as that the Swedish interpretation of the law, was discriminating and restricted free movement between the EU-countries. Hence, it will now cover all kinds of ownership, whether it is of a co-operative structure or more conventional freehold or leasehold ownership.

New initiative and new ideas

At the fair in Gothenburg October 20-21 2007 Fair Media instituted a new award for best stand. This award does not only reflect upon creativity construction wise but also the general impression of the stand.

The winner of this new award in Gothenburg was Iberian International whose happy participants are shown below accepting the award from Fair Medias Chairman Sven F. Källström and Managing Director Björn Simonsson.
